Kathryn Hahn Embraces Her Power—And Her Wild Hair—in Agatha All Along

From beloved supporting roles to center stage in a witchy lead, Kathryn Hahn is finally owning her moment—and she’s doing it with humor, vulnerability, and that signature unruly hair.

From Ensemble Scenes to Solo Spotlight

“I’ve always loved playing the quirky mom, the messy friend, the woman on the sidelines,” Hahn says over Zoom from her colorful LA home. Her screen is cracked (blame the kids), but her laugh is crystal clear. Now, with Agatha All Along premiering on Disney+, she’s embracing something much bigger: a complex, magical antiheroine.

“Something about this role felt different,” she says. “It wasn’t just about spells and musical numbers. It was about power—and the journey to reclaim it.”

Welcome Back, Agatha

Picking up after the WandaVision finale, Agatha All Along finds Hahn’s character stripped of her powers and identity, thrust into a gritty, noir-inspired world. She’s now a small-town detective, working a mysterious murder case—True Detective meets Marvel.

“I love a tough, emotionally wounded female detective,” Hahn jokes. “She drinks too much, flirts with coworkers, but lives for justice.”

The new series features a powerful coven including Patti LuPone, Aubrey Plaza, and Joe Locke, with magic, music, and murder setting the tone. And yes, there’s a show-stopping musical number or two.

The Evolution of Hahn

At 51, Hahn is hitting her stride. With roles in Step Brothers, Transparent, Spider-Verse, and more, she’s been scene-stealing for decades. But now, she’s stepping fully into the spotlight.

“I used to think acting was about full transformation—wigs, costumes, accents,” she says. “But then I realized the real power is in bringing yourself to the role.”

That realization has changed her career—and the roles she chooses.

Hair, Fashion, and Witch Energy

Hahn’s signature tousled brunette hair? Totally intentional. “My agent used to tell me, ‘Run a brush through it!’ But I never did,” she laughs. “It’s a little French, a little witchy. It’s mine.”

In Agatha All Along, her hair becomes almost symbolic. The costume team even sewed protective runes into her cape. “I could feel the power every time I wore it,” she says. “It was deeply analog, in the best way.”

Style-wise, Hahn prefers masculine tailoring—navy, black, and vintage Japanese suits. “I like a good loafer,” she says. But for red carpets? “I’ll wear heels for ten minutes. Then my husband holds my Birkenstocks.”

What’s Next?

Hahn will soon appear in “The Studio”, a Hollywood satire from Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg, alongside Catherine O’Hara and Ike Barinholtz. But for now, she’s reveling in the magic of Agatha.

“Every woman holds the child, the mother, and the crone within her,” she reflects. “To embody that—especially in this wild, witchy world—feels like the role I’ve been building toward my whole life.”
